Course Description
This qualification allows for the attainment of general competencies and also specialisation in dog handling, supervision and leadership, case management, community or emergency response streams. Candidates for this qualification will normally be employed in the supervision and management of offenders and detainees in the criminal justice system or within immigration detention centres, in Australian states and territories and/or offshore immigration detention centres.The general qualification covers the competencies allowing experienced staff to reflect advanced practice and greater team leadership roles.
Course Overview
This course is offered to corporate clients for their direct employees, it is not offered to members of public.
Delivery and assessment of this qualification is conducted into two parts:
Part One: entry level training program, which is run full time over 15 weeks.
Part Two: on the job training in an approved correctional facility over the period of 9 - 12 months.
There is no Licensing Requirement for this Qualification or Industry. There is however employment eligibility that would need to be reviewed for each jurisdiction.
Each jurisdiction operates within the individual state or territory legislation and regulations.
